Chain Wear and Replacement

On air-resistance rowers (Concept2 and similar), the chain is the primary wear component. Chains stretch over time, causing a sloppy, imprecise feel and reducing power transfer. A worn chain also accelerates sprocket wear. We measure chain stretch and replace when past service specification — typically after 2–3 years of heavy commercial use. We also re-lubricate chains at regular PM intervals.

Damper and Flywheel Service

The damper cage and flywheel on air rowers collect dust and sweat debris, which affects airflow and resistance feel. We disassemble and clean the flywheel housing, inspect the damper blades, and restore proper airflow. A properly cleaned flywheel produces the characteristic whoosh of a well-maintained rower — a dirty one sounds muffled and uneven.

PM5 and Performance Monitor Repair
