Weight Stack & Selectorized Equipment Repair in NJ

Sticky selector pins, noisy guide rods, cracked weight plates, and worn upholstery on selectorized machines are all issues Surtech Fitness resolves on commercial strength equipment throughout the NJ/NYC metro.

Selectorized weight machines — lat pulldowns, chest press, leg press, row machines, shoulder press, leg extension, leg curl — are the backbone of most commercial strength floors. They're robust but not maintenance-free. Guide rods attract dust and need regular cleaning and lubrication. Selector pins wear out. Weight plates develop stress cracks. Seat and pad upholstery deteriorates. Surtech Fitness handles all of it.

Common Selectorized Equipment Issues We Fix

Selector Pin Problems

The selector pin is the most frequently replaced component on selectorized machines. Pins bend under heavy use, the tip wears so it no longer seats securely in the plate hole, or the spring mechanism weakens so the pin falls out. A loose selector pin is a safety issue — we replace them with the correct OEM specification pin for each machine model.

Guide Rod Stiffness and Noise

Guide rods that are dry, corroded, or damaged cause the weight stack to travel roughly, creating noise and resistance. We clean and lubricate guide rods at every PM visit. If a rod is bent or corroded beyond service, we replace it.

Cracked or Broken Weight Plates

Cast iron weight plates in high-use commercial machines develop hairline cracks over time — especially in the hole area around the guide rod. Cracked plates can separate under load. We assess plate condition during PM visits and recommend replacement for any cracked plates.

Worn Upholstery and Pads

Torn, cracked, or compressed seat and back pads are both a comfort issue and a professional appearance problem. We resurface or replace pads and upholstery on commercial strength equipment using commercial-grade materials.

Pulley and Cable Service

On selectorized machines with cable systems (lat pulldowns, row machines, chest and shoulder press), cables and pulleys need the same service as standalone cable machines. We inspect and replace cables and pulley bearings as part of comprehensive strength equipment service.
